Established as an autonomous university in 1971 (formerly known as Université Michel de Montaigne Bordeaux 3, tracing its academic lineage back to the founding of the ancient University of Bordeaux in 1441), Université Bordeaux Montaigne (UBM) is one of France's most celebrated and prestigious public institutions dedicated exclusively to the Arts, Humanities, Languages, Social Sciences, Journalism, and Information & Communication Sciences.
