Toyohashi University of Technology (豊橋技術科学大学 - Toyohashi Gijutsu Kagaku Daigaku / TUT / Toyohashi Tech / Gikadai - 技科大), founded in 1976 in Toyohashi, Aichi Prefecture, Japan, is one of only two national universities of technology established by the Japanese government—alongside Nagaoka University of Technology. Conceived with the unique national mission of providing advanced research education to graduates of technical colleges (Kosen) and high schools, TUT has evolved into a world-class science and engineering research institution. Situated in the heart of Japan’s manufacturing and automotive powerhouse region (Tokai/Aichi), TUT operates a unified Faculty of Engineering and Graduate School of Engineering encompassing five fundamental pillars: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Information Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Applied Chemistry and Life Science, and Architecture and Civil Engineering. TUT is internationally renowned for its pioneering research at the Electronics-Inspired Interdisciplinary Research Institute (EIIRIS), breakthrough robotics systems, semiconductor sensors, artificial intelligence, and green chemistry. With high-impact bilingual and all-English tracks—such as the Global Technology Architects Course (GAC), International Master’s and Doctoral Degree Programs, and the prestigious Erasmus Mundus Japan IMLEX Master’s—TUT attracts exceptional technical minds from across the globe, providing world-class laboratory facilities, standard national statutory tuition, and generous government and corporate scholarship sponsorships.
