Nagoya Institute of Technology (名古屋工業大学 Nagoya Kōgyō Daigaku, widely known across Japan and globally as NITech or Meikodai - 名工大), founded in 1905 as Nagoya Higher Technical School and reconstituted as a national university in 1949, is one of Japan’s oldest, most prestigious, and highest-ranked national institutes dedicated entirely to engineering and applied scientific innovation. Located in the heart of metropolitan Nagoya (Aichi Prefecture) — the industrial capital of Japan and nerve centre of the global Greater Nagoya / Chubu manufacturing cluster — NITech maintains intimate, historic collaborative partnerships with industrial titans including Toyota Motor Corporation, Denso, NGK Insulators, Brother Industries, and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries. NITech organizes its educational excellence around a comprehensive Faculty of Engineering and Graduate School of Engineering structured into 5 foundational divisions: Life Science and Applied Chemistry, Physical Science and Engineering, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, and Architecture, Civil Engineering and Industrial Management Engineering. For global researchers, NITech operates the renowned International Graduate Program in Engineering (IGP - 100% English-medium Master’s and Doctoral courses) alongside ground-breaking international joint doctorates with the University of Limoges (France) and Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (Germany). Educating over 5,700 students with approximately 400 international scholars from more than 35 countries, NITech provides world-class research facilities across its urban Gokiso Main Campus in Nagoya and specialized Tajimi Ceramic Research Campus, under standard statutory national university tuition rates backed by 50% to 100% tuition exemptions.
