About International University of Japan
The International University of Japan (国際大学 - Kokusai Daigaku, globally recognized as IUJ), founded in 1982 through visionary collaboration between Japan’s foremost economic leadership—the Japan Business Federation (Keidanren), major multinational trading corporations, industrial conglomerates, and Dartmouth College’s Tuck School of Business—is Japan’s first independent graduate institution taught entirely in the English language. Situated in Minami Uonuma, Niigata Prefecture, nestled amidst the scenic snow-capped Echigo mountain range, IUJ is dedicated exclusively to post-graduate education (Master’s and Ph.D. degrees) with zero undergraduate faculties. The institution educates a vibrant, cosmopolitan cohort where approximately 90% of students and faculty hail from over 60 countries across the Americas, Europe, Asia, and Africa. IUJ comprises two globally distinguished graduate faculties: the Graduate School of International Management (GSIM / IUJ Business School), celebrated for its AACSB-accredited MBA and MSc in Digital Transformation programs, and the Graduate School of International Relations (GSIR), renowned for its cutting-edge master’s and doctoral degrees in international development economics, diplomacy, and quantitative public policy analysis. Characterized by immersive residential campus living, profound corporate executive ties, and prestigious partnerships with the World Bank, Asian Development Bank (ADB), IMF, and JICA, IUJ stands as a preeminent gateway for international professionals aspiring to bridge East Asia and the global economy.
