Visit Official WebsiteThe Estonian Maritime Academy (EMERA; Estonian: Eesti Mereakadeemia), founded in 1919 and integrated into Tallinn University of Technology (TalTech) in 2014, is Estonia’s only higher education competence centre providing multi-level professional and academic education in maritime sciences, shipping operations, and marine engineering. Based at the historic maritime complex on the Kopli peninsula in Tallinn with a specialized marine technology centre in Kuressaare on Saaremaa island, EMERA educates maritime officers, marine engineers, port logistics directors, refrigeration specialists, and yacht designers. Fully accredited by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) under the STCW Convention and compliant with European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA) directives, EMERA combines rigorous academic engineering coursework with state-of-the-art full-mission bridge simulators, engine room simulators, high-voltage electrical switchboards, survival training pools, and on-board seafaring cadetships. With international programs including the pioneering English-taught Master’s in Maritime Digital Solutions and maritime engineering doctorates, EMERA drives digital shipping, green maritime transitions, and blue economy innovation across the Baltic and Nordic regions.
