About Estonian Academy of Security Sciences
Established in 1992, the Estonian Academy of Security Sciences (Sisekaitseakadeemia - EASS) is the unique national public security and civil service academy of the Republic of Estonia, operating directly under the Ministry of the Interior (Siseministeerium). EASS provides professional higher education, vocational education, and master’s degree studies across four dedicated professional colleges: the Police and Border Guard College, Rescue College, Financial College (Tax and Customs), and Prison Service College, alongside the Internal Security Institute for high-level security policy and postgraduate studies. Operating from a state-of-the-art €19-million academic complex in Tallinn’s Pirita-Kose district, plus regional operational centers in Paikuse (police tactical driving and firearms), Väike-Maarja (rescue and disaster simulation grounds), and Narva (modern EU eastern border security training center), EASS stands as an international beacon for civil security, crisis management, and hybrid threats resilience. EASS leads the FRONTEX-supported European Joint Master in Strategic Border Management (EJMSBM) and coordinates the Erasmus+ international consortium on Countering Hybrid Threats (HYBRIDIM). Domestic cadet education is fully funded by the Estonian state—including full tuition fee waivers, tailored uniforms, catered meals, and monthly stipends (€300 to €800/month)—while self-financed and international tracks offer high-level specializations in border management, hybrid threats resilience, and digital customs governance.
